As an actor, I highly recommend this book about one of the most unique acting coaches of our time. So much interesting insights into the world of acting and the motivation that drives a character. Well done, After reading this book, I wish that I had met him. I keep this book as a reference, and open it to different chapters as I prepare for a role. well written, and interesting. Easy to understand, yet complex enough to keep my interest. Interesting story as well, about a time when actors were adventurous and willing to take risks. When anyone who wanted to be onstage had already decided to be vulnerable and open, and find the truth behind their characters and the story. very inspirational book about a daring artist and instructor.

This is really great in teaching relaxation techniques. It makes the point that acting involves the whole person and you act about as well as you feel. Relationships with other actors are extremely important, and your knowledge of yourself, including your flaws of character is also key to performing well. This is an unusual and very helpful approach to learning the art of acting, or polishing your craft if you are already an experienced actor.

This is a great book for those of you who need some new techniques in warming - up, performing, and teaching exercises in a beginners theater class. The author tells his story of how a teacher he had affected how he was teaching his class. I am not a theater major, but had to take it for my dance major and found the text to be engaging!

I love this book. The Physicalization Wangh presents here was like a breath of fresh air to me. While I'm not exactly convinced that all of the exercises in here will work for me personally, I love that a thoroughly original and fresh view of training is presented here. From a purely creative stance, this book goes far beyond my initial expectations. Wangh is greatly inspired by Jerzy Grotowski and in fact, this book inspired me enough to pick up his book Towards a Poor Theater, which is also a very good read.

I have searched for a book like this for years. A vivid and detailed account of Polish acting coach Grotowski's physical process for actors and singers.

I studied at Actor's Space 30 years ago, and the work has continued to teach me through my whole life of performance and creation and spiritual work. This book shows Steve Wangh at his best—I finally understand what they were trying to say! Great book. Really excellent as a learning, rehearsing, or teaching tool. Well-written too.

W.B. Yeats was prolific and had an exceptionally distinguished writing and public career. This book invites the reader to jump in at any page and just enjoy. It starts with Yeats's first published poetry volume in 1889, when Yeats was 24, and ends with his last poems in 1938-1939. His output is inspiring and in addition to the poetry includes plays and other writing, obviously not included here in a volume solely devoted to the poetry. The longer section of the poetry is the start of the book, called "Part One/Lyrical," followed by a shorter section "Narrative and Dramatic" (it's amusing that there is no "Part Two"). One fascinating aspect of Yeats's output is that some of his best work, such as "Sailing to Byzantium" and "Leda and the Swan," came after he won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1923, which is contrary to the common view that the Nobel Prize in any field usually is awarded after the recipient has passed his or her productive years.The additional material in the volume includes two short prefaces, some of Yeats's notes, and explanatory notes for the poems.

Reading through these wonderful poems by Yeats is like listening to divine music -- the voicings of the language are simply astonishing. The themes are simple and homespun, and at the same time have a classical feel and nuance about them, and there is a sense of the mystical. But who could possibly not be mesmerized by lines like "this is no country for old men," or from "Among School Children" -- "how can we know the dancer from the dance"? Enchanting, start to finish. The simplicity of the voicings, and yet their evocativeness, is astonishing.

It's a wonderful collection of a brilliant poet's work, but the type is annoyingly small, which was unexpected when I ordered it. The content is 5 star, the presentation more like 3, so I compromised with 4 stars...

This is a wonderful collection. I have always loved Yeats, and now I have a great compilation at my fingertips. There are so many great poems. I just love paging through and picking out favorite verses. If you are curious about poetry, but don't have a specific style or author, try this collection you will surely find some things to delight and move you.

Contains all the famous poems that are attributed to W.B. Yeats (at least, the ones I know of) and are written in a very nice easy-to-read type font.I give this four out of five stars because I do like to have one poem per page but the poems in this book are streamed together on pages where they begin and end. This also de-emphasizes the "significance" of some of the more famous poems as they are unceremoniously dumped in between other poems without any hint of specialty.Other than these nit-picks, the book reads great and by god it just looks so good sitting on my desk, waiting to be read. I feel a sense of excited satisfaction knowing that I own this poetry book

If you enjoy Yeats, get this book. It's not super academic, it's not full of notes and biographical information or anything like that. It's just a collection of his poems, with a small amount of explanatory notes in the back, which are very helpful. This book was meant to be read and re-read and enjoyed, so if you like poetry, or you like Yeats, or even if you haven't read much Yeats but would like to, I'd recommend this. It's really very good!

Type was way too small for my wife to read this without a magnifying glass. Seems no one considers type size for folks with less than perfect vision.

Very nice trade paperback edition, ordered as a new paperback in early August, 2014. Based on the copyright page, this is the ninth printing. I mention this because of a scattering of complaints here. Be reassured. The paper is very good, as I would expect. Print size is very good. Cover seems reasonably durable and no curling. There is an index of titles and an index of first lines.

I first read this book in the early 1980s. It was my first big read (+1,000 pages - an impressive paperback to carry around). I recently saw that it was an exceedingly economical Kindle purchase and decided to read it again (over 30 years later). It is still an incredible work. I got more out of it the second time. The best reason to read it is that the author (now deceased) conducted numerous interviews in the 1960s and 1970s with various individuals that interacted with Hitler and around him, sources now also deceased. That detail comes through clearly in the narrative. I wouldn't suggest this as a first introduction to World War II. The various battles, operations, and actions are secondary to what was going on directly in Hitler's inner circle. So for example, you don't get a good overview of the Holocaust and its victims, but you are provided with remarkable detail on how various forces in the German hierarchy enabled it and contrasting opinions from individuals involved in the decision-making or on the sidelines. This doesn't diminish the evil, but it does provide insight on those that knew, those that were active in pursuing it, and those who were opposed, but helped enable it. I was particularly struck by how many of those people thought that England and the United States would approve because of anti-Semitic views voiced in those countries. It is not the complete story, but a vital piece for readers who want to know more.

I have read over 280 books on WWII in trying to understand why Hitler did what he did. I rated Laurence Rees book as the best I have ever read. One of the readers of my review of Rees book "The Nazis" said that Toland was the best and should be number one on a readers list. I decided to read Tolands book to compare to Rees book to decide for myself. I am now about a third through the 1200 page book and I have to agree that Tolands book is the best and most authorative of the Hitler period. It's like being there. I recommend Tolands book wholehardedly. Hard to put down but you need to take it slow to absorb the whole thing. In the book is a list of interviews with people around Hitler who he interviewed. In many cases it required several interviews with the same person to verify info obtained from a third source. It is no wonder that this book got a Pulitzer Prize for this meticulous researcher that was a just reward for five years of detailed research!!!!

A Review by Anthony T. Riggio of the book, “Adolph Hitler: The Definitive Biography, written by John Toland.I purchased this book from Amazon in the Kindle edition. This book was well over a thousand pages and probably would be very intimidating in its bound edition. Reading this book took a bit longer than usual as I had to stop and research via other sources word, phrases and geographical locations. This is one of the limitations of reading a historical or nonfiction book where you cannot easily flip to an index, glossary or map renditions.People asked me why would I read a book about such a monstrous character in history and my response was as simple as “this is history” and it relates to events before and after World War II and it also impacted on me personally when my time in the Army was extended due to the Berlin Wall crisis in 1961.Mr. Toland related the life and rise to power of a very interesting historical person who accumulated power by sheer will power. Hitler was a very average German character in his beginning life. He had, like most families, issues that did influenced his adulthood but the experiences were not unlike many Germanic people of his era. While born an Austrian, his affinity was to the German heritage and the future of Germany as he imagined it at that time. His veterancy of the Great War (World War I) effected his life and future actions in no small way.His early goals were to be an artist but he was denied entrance to the Art University as his talents were not recognized worthy enough (though in any other country or time, he had enough skills or natural abilities to make a fairly good living). While his passions were toward politics, they were negatively impacted by his near do well attitude may have slowed his advancements in this or any vocation.World War I sensitized his dreams of having political influence on his adopted country of Germany and as his adult life progressed he adopted a Bohemian life style and was influenced by some emerging thoughts of government and began socializing with some of these radical thinkers.Once he realized where his skills and abilities were, he progressed at record speeds to positions of political notoriety by sheer will power and his incredible ability to be an orator. His speeches were both hypnotic and motivationally forceful enough to develop a hard core of followers who recognized his leadership abilities.At one point his thoughts and ideas put him in conflict with government and was convicted of social disruptions and sentenced to jail. Because his crimes were political in nature, he was allowed certain privileges denied to common criminals. During this period he wrote his plan for government “Mein Kemp”. Had the people read this before his meteoric rise to power they may have thought twice about promoting his political aspirations. After, he became powerful, he was like a “rock star” and his book became most popular and enhanced his wealth.Through pure force of character and oratory skills he wooed the German people into accepting his vision of Germany and his view of the stringent and punitive reparations imposed on Germany after the Great War.Central to his philosophy of rule was the almost universal blaming of Germany’s suffering to the Jews, not only of Germany but of Europe and even the United States of America. This Anti-Semitism lubricated the operations of government and the social order to negative heights and thoughts. The Jews became the accepted scapegoat for all the woes resulting from the Great War and Hitler’s imagined view of both governmental and economic life in Germany.As Hitler accumulated increasing power that the people gave him, he became a megalomaniac and believed he was destined by divine right to rule Germany and her expanding Reich. Through his belief in the need to increase geographic growth needed for the German people , it became the Genesis for the most horrific conflict in the history of man.Hitler’s manipulation of his own people grew so did his ability to leap diplomatic hurdles and intimidated many countries and because many of these countries were cognizant of the abusive reparations from the Great War, there was this sense of guilt of the treatment of Germany and an almost unconscious acceptance of Germany’s martial spirit and expansion of her boarders.The control of Germany’s military further enhanced his self-importance and his war decisions impacted on Germany’s abilities to make war and ultimately to defend her nationhood.While many dwell on Hitler’s megalomania, it is evident that his far reaching thoughts of political ambitions were to some extent, nationalistic in nature. His pathological views of the Jews would be judged subsequently by both man, history and God.I believe this book is a worthy study of both Germany and the history of World War II; it is also a study of human nature and corruptibility of absolute power.I rated this book with five stars and recommend it highly as a definitive work of both biography and history.

This is a great read. Having read "Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" by Shirer several times, this book fills a number of gaps of that book. (Not that this is a criticism of that book.) This first half of Adolf Hitler goes into detail more of his personal life as a youth and his "alone" life in Vienna in his late teens and twenties. Extremely well done by the personal interviews of those who knew him. The war years give more personal insight into him than Shirer's book as I expected. A very good read to understand a totalitarian dictator.

This book is as relevant today as when it was written decades ago. It's most fascinating for the way that it illuminates the people around Hitler as utterly unable to deal with a sociopath; despite their worldly experience and great savvy, they just can't seem to believe that Hitler is not sincere - that he can't be reasoned with. Astonishingly, we have not learned this lesson.As a work of journalism, It's finely balanced. It depicts Hitler as a human being with a childhood and friends. It's as close to judgment-free as anything I've ever read, leaving the reader to draw his own conclusions. You could be a Jew or a Nazi and read this with equal satisfaction.

What will happen when this fledgling alliance meets with the unexpected and can they survive the coming onslaught of the hunter?We see Bell as his growth expands once again and he begins to come into his own, not just as a fighter but as a person as well. While he still has his moments, he shows why he is still an enjoyable character. And the rest of the group also have grown showing how they have gone from a low level family to one that has earned its place. I love the series and cant wait for the next one.

I enjoyed this book in the series primarily because Bell is maturing. Not just his power level and strength as an adventurer, though that's there too, but as a young man growing up and learning of the world. The MC who can't handle women when he's surrounded by a harem gets old after awhile. Not saying he dives in here, but he's not flustered as much as he used to be. He's more serious now but still has his nice guy charm and i hope it continues this way, maybe even becoming more adult like in the content 😉

Is good, great form of maintaining the story, and providing an interesting, this volume is one of my favorites of my collection!

This was the best volume so far.We finally get back to adventuring in the dungeon and there are many unexpected surprises.We get to see character growth from Mikoto and Lilli. One aspect that I enjoyed was seeing the negative effect of Bell's rapid growth on the rest of his familia.This is a must read!

Nothing but unadulterated dungeon exploring, going back to the root of this series. Seeing Bell's growth along side his familia just gave me a feeling of how far into the story we've gone into. I can confidently say that this is my favorite book series, I can't wait for the next volume!

I watched the Anime when it came out on Crunchyroll here in the U.S. and enjoyed it so much, I watched it 3 times more after it's initial release. Now I'm reading the Light novels to keep up on Bell and his friend's adventure's and can't wait to see what happens next.

The MC still has a long way to go but his current development is not so bad. All of his familia is growing with him and some of their bad childish traits were being shed. All in all the volume contained a long awaited character development for 3 familia alliance.

In this book we are back to dungeon crawling, but after the events that occurred in volume 10 and 11 some of the members of Hestia Familia experienced some character grow, especially Bell. And that change made the adventure in this volume one of the best yet, and that's saying something considering how the last two volumes were one of my favorites.
