This rating is for this Kindle version NOT related to the content of the books themselves. This kindle edition is not usable. It crashed my tablet constantly. I think perhaps it is just too much into one book. I wish now I had bought these seperately to have smaller files. Beware if you buy this it may not work.

Edersheim was born to Jewish parents in Vienna 1825. He spoke English in his home, but studied at the gymnasium, Hebrew school and at the University of Vienna. He eventually ended up at Oxford. He converted to the Christian faith through the ministry of a Church of Scotland pastor. His contribution to the background of the Bible through his knowledge of the Hebrew Bible, Talmud and Septuagint are tremendous.

Edersheim is a great author, but the Kindle edition of "His greatest works" is completely unusable. There is no table of contents and not even a way to jump directly to the beginning of 4 or 5 books included in the collection, never mind to any chapter within each book. If you buy this book, have fun scrolling.

If you are looking for historically accurate information concerning the Jewish culture and religion at the time that Jesus was alive, this is a great source. Be aware that it is written at a college level and can be heady at times.

These books old (written over 100 years ago), but they are a great view of the times and culture surrounding the Israelites and the life of Christ. There is an incredible amount of detail considering the age of Edersheim's work. Without question there have been many discoveries in the realms of Egyptology and archeology and history that have corrected some of Ederseim's assertions. That, to me, does not diminish the value of his works. There are still many, many great insights to be gained regarding how the Israelites lived day to day, how they approached temple worship, and other cultural issues that help us understand the Old and New Testaments.There are those that would discredit all of his thoughts and writings based on those things that have been discovered since he wrote these books. What would happen, however, if we applied the same logic to the world of geology or biochemistry. Does the fact that geneticists did not understand something regarding DNA in the 1980's mean that everything they discovered should be disregarded? Edersheim's works should still be studied in the light of recent discoveries.

This is the best book I have ever read regarding fluid sim development, if you're familiar with C/C++ and the basic vector computation, and interested in writing you're own fluid solver, this book would be the best option for you to start with.The author introduces the concepts from scratch to the full solver structures accompanying with a lot of examples and figures, it's very easy to get understand the ideas. Other than that, the author also explains every part of the C/C++ code in details, that does help the readers to build their own program and improve their programming skills.Personally, I think this book is not only for programmers but also very suitable for FX TDs/Artists who want to understand the algorithms of the fluid solvers in the 3D software such as Maya or Houdini.

I've read dozens of books on the subject, including Stanley McChrystal's excellent My Share of the Task, and Pete Blaber's The Mission, The Men, and Me, and Paronto's book, perhaps because it's written by a tactical-level guy rather than a strategic-level guy, is far easier to digest. The Special Operations community has garnered considerable notoriety, with numerous books on SEALs, Rangers, Special Forces, Delta Force, and the like. Many of those once-obscure units are now household names, but of all of them, the organization that has achieved the most success in terms of number of successful operations, high-value targets captured/killed, and intelligence gathered is the 75th Ranger Regiment, not because they are the best or strongest or most elite, but because they more than any other unit make it a priority to do all the little stuff right. That is what Kris Paronto has captured in this book, and why it's worth a spot on anyone's bookshelf.

Can't begin to say how much this book in just few pages has pulled me out of depression to wake up and move forward the way Kris Paronto has in just the first few pages! I highly recommend this book to all those who are in a place where they don't seem to be able to go forward, or are stuck in an addiction or habit that they can't seem to break free of. Kris inspires as he directs and leads you to push through the mire. He gives step by step instruction to help you grow and become a stronger, better you, in, through and post crap. He shares his life and experiences with you to encourage you and let you know that crap happens and you will come out of it on the other side if you just choose to "embrace the suck", (as the Rangers say). In the midst of some very difficult and life changing things in my life, I needed to hear his encouragement, straight talk, instruction and the Ranger Creed to help inspire me to make the very best of the situation I found myself in, and to bring me out on the other side, (still in progress), with growth and a sound mind.
