This book is simply amazing. The production of Kindle art book is on the rise. It is a great idea to have pictures of your favorite artist on your tablet. I have tried digital art books from several authors and none comes even close to the Delphi Complete Works series. A usual art book will offer you 80-120 paintings of an artist, usually in poor resolution and sometimes with a short biography for $3-$5. This series for the same $3 or less offers your ALL painting of an artist with a great introduction. I especially like that every painting indicates a museum where you can see it.I will purchase more books from this series now!

I knew John Singer Sargent as a portraitest, but this book shows us so much more about his art. One gets to watch as this incredible artist studies, travels, and grows in his art. I was fascinated at how he composed his portrait studies, nearly always creating some visual interest away from the subject - a scarf, fan, painting, couch, or another person to draw the eye. In his travels he painted anything and everything, often in watercolor, which is a difficult medium to control, but obviously Sargent was a master. For me, though, the best were paintings that seemed to be architectural studies or studies of a scene where I didn't notice at first that there were people or animals in the picture at all until I looked wider and was surprised to discover it was so much more than it first appeared. I'm sure I will be turning again and again to this book over the years to discover more each time I look.

All art has a story behind it. I really enjoyed the background history of many of his pieces. Delphi has many Complete Works volumes. I highly recommend them.

I love Sargent and this book it's amazig, it even shows you so much details in his paintings. I really enjoy it.

I love Sargent's work, and to literally have a complete set of his paintings available on my tablet for just a few bucks is pretty wild! I enjoy just leafing through.

If you are a John Singer Sargent fan, you'll enjoy this book. I thought viewing on my iPad was actually a bit better than on my desktop, but you can read/view on either device.

As an engineer with 35 years experience in the computer industry, I have taken countless corporate classes, community college, technical college and University classes to learn new things and keep my skills updated. I learned BASIC and CPM in the late 1970's so things have come a long long ways. In all these classes I have had expensive text books, expensive class notes (from bookstores), or stacks of copied and recopied notes, tables and articles. I have yet to find any of them enjoyable to read, or even easy to read. I have yet to find any of them complete, error free or able to stand alone as a resource to help you do what you are trying to do. Look at any computer programmers bookshelf, you will see hundreds of books, many of them on the same subjects because none are thorough enough and you have to buy dozens of them. This book is very impressive. Its covers the most important topics and explains everything succinctly. I expected to see the typical charts and diagrams, for example, i expected for HTML to see the color codes and various other reference, and its there, but so much more. The author has taken each of the various components of each topic and listed them by subject and alphabetically sorted, and explained what and how they are used. This is true for all of the subjects--from HTML, to WordPRess, JAVA, --all of it. Its all excellent. Its easy to read, its well written, and I am impressed. I could use this as a text in the classes I have taught and not only do well as an instructor, but the students would and could use this book throughout their careers, or at least through their education if they do not pursue a computer career. Its title, "18 books in 1" is clever because it really is 18 books. I wont list the contents, that would be repetitive, but its got all of the most popular and current reference you would need to build websites, or to manage websites, (ie system administrator/webmaster etc). This is not an easy task and I am in awe of the author for having the wherewithal to not only do it, but to be able to put it all together and do so in a way that makes it usable for everyone from those with little or no experience, to students, to professionals--who would use it as reference material. I liked that it was not a rehash of the same old same old that you read in all of the current books, nor was it just printouts from various websites. There is some very useful and interesting information too, like the % of servers running (list of server software), or % of websites built from (website building applications) and so on. I don't know where he found it, but its interesting to see. Without a doubt I give it 5 stars. I needed an overview of web technologies and this was a great one. As others have said it is very dense. But reading threw it quickly gives a good sense of how the given tool is used and what that looks like. I did spend more time on a few and you can learn a lot when you invest your time. Having an understanding of Java I was impressed by the depth of the Java Applets section. If you really learned all that is included there you could not only develop Applets but Swing application tool.

This book is awesome...explains concisely and quickly exactly how to code many different web-based languages, and fits them all together with examples. My one complaint? The font is too small, and won't resize for me, so reading it is somewhat difficult. Other than that, an awesome programmer's tool!

It is a code bible but also states itself as an accelerated course. You can google code and get it for free. This was expensive for what it is since it really isn't a course in any language. Quite a few of the graphics are too small to read or make any use of, but there are many output examples that are worthwhile. You will probably need to dig into other resources to really learn the languages.

Worth every penny. I learned so much from this book just flipping through the pages. I have started collecting a bunch of books for my personal home library and this is a must have. To the author, very well done!
