I'm showing my gray hair (some of which matches the cover this year...), but even in the electronic era this type of reference is invaluable. It's tiny, light and full of the most rapidly needed information regarding medications (plus some useful algorithms).I find it particularly useful when I'm looking for something 'outside my normal body parts'. The medications are listed by types (i.e. for skin, for gyn, antibiotic etc) so if you are trying to jog your memory on something you can narrow it down. Flipping pages rapidly can still work wonders in figuring things out. Particularly when a patient isn't exactly sure of the name and (gasp) there isn't an electronic record. Yes, there are still times when that happens.Of course I have my favorite electronic resources, but this little book has been, and remains, a useful tool. I'm in a job where I have and may end up again cut off from my electronics and I still need to be able to access the important things. Often these are 'size really does matter' situations--where small, light and portable counts for much!I'm currently buying this book about every 2-3 years just to make sure I have such a useful resource handy in a portable, non-electronic and functional format. This book is on the keeper list for paper resources.Highly Recommended!JTG

I was first introduced to the Tarascon's pocket guides when I started my first nursing job in the ER. (What a fast and furious education THAT was, let me tell you!)The Nursing Educator told me in my first week, "You have to get one of these," and showed me her Tarascon's pocket guide. Then over time I realized a number of the ER physicians used them, too.The Tarascon's Pocket Guide is a real gem. It was a handy gem in the ER, but now that I work in cardiology/telemetry nursing, it's even handier, since the cardiologists and consulting physicians are more prone than ER physicians to be using very new drugs I've never heard of before (e.g. Pradaxa, Victoza).If you're a resident, RN, or practicing MD (inpatient or office-only), you really need this book.The nice thing is it truly is a POCKET guide: it fits in the pockets of my scrub shirts.I have read people's poor reviews complaining about the organization of the book.Those reviewers clearly didn't take the 30 sec. - 2 minutes necessary to read through the first few pages of the pocket guide and learn the "legend" of the book (like the legend of a map). Once you know that -- and it's pretty simple -- you can look new drugs up in the index, e.g. Victoza. When you see that the index lists Victoza at 77b, you know that the Victoza entry in the drug guide is on page 77, at the bottom. (t=top, m=middle, b=bottom).If you take a couple minutes to familiarize yourself with the legend and symbols (it's really not that hard; I don't now what some of these people are talking about) in the first few pages of the Tarascon guide, you'll know how to find drug info for any drug that's listed in the Index in the book.The only downside is, of course, the need to buy a new Tarascon's Pocket Drug Guide every few years, because the newer or newest editions have the most up-to-date drug info. But they're relatively cheap (if you paid $16-20 or more for yours, you paid too much). So that's not that much of an issue.Now if only they had a pocket veterinary drug guide, so I'd know what I can/can't give my cats and dog... oh well. Hopefully someone has written a veterinary drug pocket guide... or will soon!

I recommend the Tarascon Pocket Pharmacopoeia to anyone who works in the medical transcription field. Medical transcription requires one to have up-to-date drug references at hand, and it's important to be able to find needed information quickly. This is my favorite resource for this.Many times, the one piece of information a medical transcriptionist needs is whether a medication name is a brand or generic, in order to format it correctly. The Pocket Pharmacopoeia's index makes it super-fast and easy to confirm this and to double check spelling. Beyond that, it's a cinch to find information on available formulations, strengths, and common dosages.A unique strong point of this publication is that the medications are arranged by diagnostic area, which can be very helpful. If one knows that, say, the mystery drug is a blood pressure medication, it's easy to skim that section to find the right name.Finally, this book is very reasonably priced for a reference of this type, and I LOVE its "pocket footprint." It takes up very little desktop real estate to keep it right at hand for quick reference.I recommend the Tarascon Pocket Pharmacopoeia to all of my medical transcription staff and students. Try it once, and I predict it will be an annual purchase for you thereafter. To borrow a quotation from an old copy of the book: "It's not what you know, it's how fast you can find the information."

I got the book today and adore it. A true collector's item for any Jackson Family fan or lover or pop music history. This is a unique book that features interviews with some of the Jackson 5, Motown artists, and other music industry professionals. I appreciate that the Jackson shared their memories and photo collections with us. I prefer to hear what happened from theur own mouths as opposed from writers who've never met them. I will cherish my book.

I dragged my feet on buying The Jacksons: Legacy because I felt like it was going to be a money grab. I’ve been duped a couple of times by books claiming to have exclusive pics, etc. I loved this book. The Jackson 5 mania was before my time but it was cool learning about how they got started, touring, solo projects, members leaving the group, meeting celebrities and royalty. This book is thick and full of beautiful photos. I know some people might be hesitant like me to purchase this book but check out my video and hopefully I can change your mind.

Shockingly wasn't what I expected but was very excited when I received it. This will last for generations to come, to be passed down from daughter to grandchildren. This is definitely a treasure to have. This book gives you a more up close and personal view of the Jackson family as entertainers and human beings. If you were a fan as a child back in the seventies and was unable to buy all the magazines with their photos or wanted to see a more personal side of them with their families off the road through photos than this book is what you need to have. Hard back cover, thick pages, hard to tear, what more could you ask for?

I've come across a lot of Jackson books that are just money grabs and provide nothing new to the public about one of musics royal families. But "The Jacksons: Legacy" is a gem of never before seen photos, stories and facts that I never knew. Thank you for publishing the definitive coffee table book on the one and only Jackson family.

Ohhh...M...G...! This is the most beautiful book everrrr. As soon as I first opened it up, I felt engulfed by my favorite singing brothers. I felt like I was right there. The photos are amazing. The memories WE feel, as fans, seeing them--I can imagine what it was like composing all that the Jackson brothers have included in this gorgeous collection of memories. Thank you so much for sharing all of this with us, Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon, Randy, and of course, in memory of Michael. Thank you and God bless you always. I will treasure this book like I have all of my Jackson memorabilia since 1970.

I enjoy these comics. This one has a cliffhanger like the others. Reminds me of the old Saturday morning cartoons from childhood. Keep up the good work.

These books are exactly what I was looking for for my kid. He loves Scooby and superheroes, so this is the perfect gateway drug to comic books for him.

Our three and five-year-olds both love these funny, silly mystery stories, and parents who watched the classic cartoons they're based on will get a chuckle from the references that are tucked into the dialogue. Fun to read out loud, too.

My son subscribes to the comic and loves it so as soon as he received this he opened it up and began reading it. I'm all about indulging his love of reading in any form.

This was given as a gift.

The story is good. The print is tiny - makes it difficult for an early reader to decipher it.

The Scooby-Doo Team-Up series still continues as this volume collects 7-12. In this volume, we get the appearances by The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Superman, Johnny Quest, Secret Squirrel and...the Gotham Girls?!?In issue 7, Scooby- Doo and Mystery Inc. were in the middle of yet another mystery when they somehow find themselves in the prehistoric past, home of the Flintstones and Rubbles. But then there was a Phantom of the Operock. So they went to the opera and saw the Phantom. Wilma thought his husband, Fred Flintstone, made it up to go bowling. But it turns out there IS a Phantom in here. With Bamm-Bamm's strength, the Phantom was unmasked. But Mystery Inc. wanted go back to their own timeline. With the help of Gazoo, they now find themselves in the future?!? To be continued?...(Issues 7-8 are a two-part Time-Travel arc)In issue 8, continuing from where Issue 7 left off, Scooby and the gang now find themselves in the futuristic future, home of the Jetsons. Even Scooby and Astro share same dog sounds. They made themselves at the Jetsons home, until...*groans* Spacely called George to come back to the office for something called 'Project X'. When they got there, they don't believe in ghosts, until the so-called 'Space Age Specter' appeared and scare them. Also Cogswell showed up as well. There's more to this mystery than meets the eye (and Judy began to like Fred...). After a little chase, the Space Age Specter turns out to be Elroy's robot. Elroy just wants George home, but they still need to do this 'Project X', which turned out to be Einstone's time machine. With it working, Mystery Inc. said goodbye to the Jetsons and finally made it back home.In issue 9, Superman calls upon Mystery Inc.'s help to deal with some weird stuff going on in Daily Planet. It was the work of the Prankster! Or it is the Trickster? Then the Red Kryptonite turned Superman into a crazed-rage monster. With the help of Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, and Kyrpto the Superdog, the Mystery Inc. gang turned Superman back to normal and captured the Prankster!In issue 10, the Mystery Inc. gang join forces with Johnny Quest, Haji, Bandit, Race, and Johnny's dad, Dr. Quest, to investigate a cursed ruby. But then suddenly, Dr. Quest was kidnapped by his nemesis Dr. Zin, and they went to the Island of Monsters to save him and stop Dr. Zin. In the end, the island began to self-destruct and our heroes made it safely with Dr. Quest and apprehend Dr. Zin.(Oh, Johnny Quest had once team-up with Tom and Jerry in the crossover movie, Tom and Jerry: Spy Quest. Loved it!)In issue 11, the Mystery Inc. gang now team-up with Secret Squirrel and Morocco Mole to stop King Leopold's ghost so that the treaty can be signed by the Slobbovia and the Wildechaya. But in an unexpected effort, they were kidnapped and tied into a pool of...SHARKS!!!! But with team-work, the ghost turned out to be Yellow Pinkie?!? (LOL!!!) Really?!? That's the bad guy's name? But they also find themselves in Yellow Pinkie's evil lair which is a volcano. But they escaped as the volcano erupts. Another successful team-up!In issue 12, Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. got back to Gotham City to get a distress call from...Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy? It turns they stole an opal of osiris, but they think it's cursed. Then a ghost showed up. Shaggy thought it was Batman, but it was Catwoman. It turns out the Opal of Osiris was actually a Cat's Eye Opal. D'OH!!!! Really? A Cat jewel!!! Then, another ghost show up, this time with yellow gloves? It turns out it was Batgirl. With her help, they return the Opal back and apprehend the villain girls.This series still continues for us Scooby fans. This volume was still written by Sholly Fisch, and drawn by Dario Brizula and Scott Jeralds. Next time, we'll check out Volume 3 of Scooby-Doo Team-Up which collects issues #13-18! This is a true gem detailing the history of the Mercedes Benz SL series from the 1950's to the 2003 McLaren SLR. The story behind the story is revealed in verbose yet illuminating detail covering the racing pedigree, the personalities involved, R&D projects than never went into production (the C111 Wankel mid-engine of the 1970's comes to mind), safety considerations, and how the economic environment and later the "green economy" influenced the evolution of the SL series. Well-placed pictures of different model years and photo angles are strategically placed throughout the 192-page reference book. A necessary addition to the book shelf of any SL-series fan.

I got this for my father for the holidays this year. He has a Mercedes SLK. This book presents a very good pictorial and textual history of the Mercedes brand and of course the history of the Mercedes SL class. It is a focused book and might not have as much appeal to a general car buff, that is unless that person is into the SL class. That being said the authors present the material in a logical, interesting manner.Overall a fantastic history book on an influential car and brand.Thank you for reading my review.

We refuse to purchase the ones that mention the Bible or "god," and we skip over those parts when we check them out of the library.The story is otherwise somewhat illustrative of how gossip can be harmful, but it lacks the impact of the original Berenstain Bears stories.

The truth of Gossip is that it separates close friends. This is not only a good lesson for the kids but also for adults. I love how it elaborates the Bible verse with simple story. A must buy!

I've read all of the Jane Whitefield novels from the 1st one to Runner--the 6th--in the past 2 months. How did I miss these brilliant books for so long? They're far beyond other suspense/thrillers in quality of writing, plotting, sensibility of the author, everything. Absolutely outstanding. The first 5 books were written between 1995 and 1999. Then he waited 10 years to write Runner. I'm sorry to say that he lost some momentum. Runner is still very good, but not quite up to the others. I thought that the premise was over-simplified, not very interesting, and not especially believable. And I never got a clear sense of the personality of the main character, Christine, the runner.If this is your first experience with Jane Whitefield and Thomas Perry, don't despair. Go back to the previous 5 books. I would rate all of them solid 5 stars. There are two more after Runner, and I hope that Perry got his groove back.

In the sixth book of the Jane Whitefield series, and the first one to take place after 9/11, the rules of the game have changed. The game is simple: Jane takes people out of harm's way and places them safely, far away and under another name. She promised her husband to stop, and kept her promise for several years. But when a bomb goes off in his hospital and a pregnant girl tells Jane it was meant to flush her out, Jane grabs the girl and sets out on another mission. She's older, airport security is tighter, people recognize her from long ago...the stakes are higher for Jane. The stakes are pretty high for Christine, too - she's fleeing a man who is more than just abusive, who has the money to hire half a dozen people to bring her back. Things go relatively well at first, but Christine is too young and inexperienced to see every possibility for danger and is caught. Jane has never believed in revenge, but as she has struggled with childlessness, Christine's plight triggers an empathic response and she goes all out to rescue mother and child. This isn't the best book of the series for several reasons. First, Thomas Perry retired Jane years ago. I don't know why he chose to resurrect her, but his earlier passion seems to have diminished. The details of running, hiding and building new identities are somewhat perfunctory. His interest now appears to be Jane's midlife crisis: she always thought her mother had chosen to be happy and that if she followed her mother's path, she would be happy, too. But she realizes that she has a calling that she has suppressed, and may have been hiding behind the shadow of the doctor's wife. The emphasis on her desire to be a mother doesn't really ring true. There was never any sign in the previous five books that she had any such yearning. In fact, her marriage seems more like a business arrangement than a passionate attachment. What makes this book worth reading is that the plotting is good, as always, and it's clear that Jane is back in the game. The seventh book is being released in March 2012, and it will be interesting to see if Jane finds her feet again as a guide, or realizes that part of her life is truly over.

Runner is a worthy followup to Jane Whitfield's earlier adventures, though it follows a familiar pattern, the "one last heist" type of story made popular by Al Pacino in the last Godfather movie: "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!" Here, Jane has been happily and quietly married to Corey in the upstate Buffalo Triangle area in which her ancestors lived, fished, hunted, and prayed. Well, perhaps she's not so happy since, as it turns out, she has been patiently waiting for a baby of her own, but for one reason or another, the Seneca gods have shunned her pleas. Perhaps the time was ripe for her to get involved in something she thought she'd long ago paid her farewells to--the business of shielding victims from murderers. Especially with Christine Monohan, a young pregnant girl, barely out of her teens, whom a team of professional assassins has detonated a bomb in a Buffalo hospital merely to flush out.The book starts with a bang, literally, and I was prepared for it to be just as great as the first three Jane novels, but once we come to understand the lineaments of why people want Christine (and her unborn baby) so bad, it becomes a little ludicrous. Why didn't Perry just go whole hog and decide that Christine was carrying the baby of Satan? Ira Levin did it so well back in the day. Only the capture of the antichrist would justify the things the bad guys do in this novel, and no, Christine's baby is just another baby like any other, so Perry is forced to make all the bad guys into monsters nobody could actually believe in, thereby lessening the suspense a bit.The book is also too long for what it is, and driving back and forth (several times) across the US from Towananga to Rancho Santa Fe (on the Pacific) has never seemed more tedious. But, all in all, Runner proves once again that, when he puts his mind to it, Thomas Perry can write up a storm, and in addition, what we Perry fans know, Jane Whitfield is an original character with a strange, hypnotic appeal we just want more of all the time.

This book was so griping, I ended up reading all his books and begin following him and his wife to book signings and met them both. Lovely and interesting couple. It helps that the Jane Whitfield series, which The Runner is one, takes place in NY state not far from where I grew up. I related to the areas mentioned in the book quickly!

This book really kept me on my toes. It was extremely interesting, intriguing and exciting. I kept reading and reading way into the night because it held me totally. The character Jane is most unique and unlike any other book characters I have encountered. If you want a really exciting mystery this would be one to select. I know that I am glad I did.

I love the Jane Whitfield series with the earlier books being some of my favorites of all time. But this book is weak. Weak plot with not very believable characters. The villains are not scary and the damsel in distress is a bit stupid. It’s not a terrible book, it’s just forgettable.
